About this Event

Alaska Ballot Measure 1, approved by voters on November 5, 2024, implements several significant changes to labor laws in the state. The measure increases the minimum wage incrementally to $15 per hour by July 1, 2027, and mandates paid sick leave for employees. Specifically, employees of larger employers (15 or more employees) can accrue up to 56 hours of paid sick leave annually, while those working for smaller employers can accrue up to 40 hours. Additionally, the measure prohibits employers from taking adverse action against employees who refuse to attend employer-sponsored meetings on religious or political matters. Supporters argue that this measure ensures fair compensation and necessary benefits for workers, promoting a healthier and more productive workforce. Opponents, however, express concerns that the increased labor costs could negatively impact small businesses and lead to higher consumer prices. This webinar on Alaska Ballot Measure 1 presented by CFMA Alaska and IMA Group formerly Parker, Smith, and Feek.
