This program provides an in-depth view of the Work in Progress (WIP) schedule. The first part of the course will cover the basic accounting aspects of WIP including how to calculate, account for, and reconcile costs. Part two will explore the perspective of an internal analysis covering cash flow related to jobs, management and analysis tools, estimated costs to complete, and projecting future profits using budgeting and forecasting. Attendees will also learn the significance of your WIP schedule from the third party user’s perspective and why ensuring its successful performance is necessary to the credibility of their businesses.

Learning Objectives
After this session, attendees will be able to:

  • Define WIP and percentage of completion (PCM) accounting methods;
  • Demonstrate best practices for internal use and analysis of WIP schedules;
  • Discuss how the external analysis of your WIP by third-party users (sureties, banks, CPA’s, etc.) can have a profound impact on your business.

Tracy Allen brings 20 years of experience focusing in construction accounting and leads Oregon’s construction industry practice. She provides attest work and consulting services such as cash-flow management, operational reviews, systems and process reviews, as well as succession planning to her clients.  Tracy holds her CCIFP® designation in the construction industry.

She is honored to be an American Institute of Certified Public Accountants’ Leadership Academy alum.  Tracy was named a DJC Women of Vision award recipient in 2017 and has also taught locally and nationally for various construction associations including the Construction Financial Management Association (CFMA).

Jeremy Bottlinger, Senior Manager at Aldrich

Jeremy Bottlinger joined Aldrich CPAs and Advisors in 2022. At his previous company, Jeremy started the training and intern program and created the R+D tax credit sector of the firm. He also implements his coding knowledge to better processes that find hidden solutions for his clients.

Jeremy is a licensed Certified Public Accountant (CPA). In addition, he is a member of various professional organizations, including the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), the Arizona Society of CPAs (ASCPA), the Arizona Builders Alliance (ABA), and the Young Builders Council. He has also authored multiple professional articles and publications.

Jeremy graduated from Arizona State University with a bachelor’s in accounting and computer information systems, a minor in mathematics, and a master’s in taxation.

In his free time, Jeremy enjoys working with his hands by remodeling homes and rebuilding motorcycles, trucks, and cars. He also likes hiking, camping, shooting, and riding on his motorcycle.
